It's official, we have baby names picked out! First baby (formerly "Baby A") will be John Daniel and "Baby B" will be Matthew Owen.
Hope you like them, because if you don't, it's tough noogies for you... hehe :)

Hedgpeth Twins Update: The BIG Ultrasound!
Today was the big day! We got to find out the sexes of the little sprouts today. Of course this ultrasound was really about screening for birth defects and making sure that everything is developing normally. The gender thing was an added bonus!
Without further delay, we're happy to announce that we will be having TWO BOYS!
Their development is perfect, no issues! They are dichorionic/diamniotic twins, which in the world of twinning means that each baby has its own placenta and its own amniotic sac. This means there is a good chance that they are fraternal twins (two eggs, two sperm), but there is still a chance, if the egg split early enough in the pregnancy, that they are identical. My bets are still on fraternal though. Nate jokingly likes to "blame" me for the twinning. "Either way," he says, "You either released two eggs or you split an egg." My response? "First of all, I do not command my eggs to split. Second, you fertilized both eggs. Third? I think if you're going to point fingers you need to take that up with the Lord in your prayer time."
I know that Payton will love being a big sister to two boys and I am sure will enjoy bossing them around. I can't lie, I love that my little girl will have two brothers to have her back when she's older. Especially when young men come calling. And poor Luna doesn't know what's coming. I have already seen while fur popping up on her from Payton, I cannot imagine two boys on top of that.

13 Weeks
13 weeks, 3 days today and we had our first routine OB appointment after that first shocking ultrasound. Needless to say when we saw two babies on the screen this time we were much more prepared. I was able to 100% relax once the doctor confirmed both heartbeats and I saw two little bodies squirming around. Seeing the babies actually made me really excited this time! And while I am only 13 weeks, I am measuring 19 weeks - this is gonna get exciting :) Another great part about our visit today is the doctor I saw has been through a twin pregnancy as well! I cannot tell you how nice it is to have a healthcare professional working with me who has actually been there and doesn't have only book knowledge.
We have definitely decided to do a repeat C-Section. Even if all looked good for a vaginal delivery they don't want me laboring too long because of the strain on my uterus, so I'd most likely end up in surgery anyway. Why not save ourselves the trouble and disappointment, ya know? They will schedule between 37-38 weeks which will put us at the last week of June first week of July. We're praying that the little munchkins stay put until then. When I start to get anxious about preterm labor, I remind myself of Jeremiah 1:5. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." This makes me confident that they are in the Lord's hands and He works all things together for good.
On some side notes, my gag reflex is slowly beginning to give me less trouble. The fact that I can take a decongestant now helps the drainage that was causing me to gag (and throw up). I am no longer nauseous and my energy is creeping back. I've started doing a gentle prenatal yoga twice a week and easy walking another two days a week. I've been instructed to keep my heartrate below 140 BPM and I am thrilled that I am allowed to do light exercise.
Payton has been so sweet also. My parents bought her not one, but TWIN baby dolls for Christmas. Payton loves those little babies and insists that they are always together. She also likes to expose my belly and rest her head on it. We are getting very close to being completely weaned from breastfeeding which is exciting and sad all at the same time. I will miss nursing her, as I am sure she will miss being nursed. I am proud that I made it to 21 months and I hope to be as blessed with the twins to nurse that long.
Our next appointment is on February 2nd and we should be able to determine the sexes and what kind of twins they are! I have my money on boy/girl (mostly because that is what I am feeling), which of course rules out idential twins. What do you think?
